Derek Scruggs

Derek Scruggs is founder of Escalan, an online marketing firm which specializes in email and database marketing strategy, design and implementation. Prior to founding Escalan, Derek was the Permission Advocate for MessageMedia, a leading provider of email marketing technologies and services. In that role he served as an evangelist for the email marketing industry and as a consultant for MessageMedia clients such as Cisco Systems, Dell Computer, E-Trade and Bluelight.com. He is a well-known industry expert on the topic of permission email marketing.

Derek came to MessageMedia after it acquired Distributed Bits, which he founded and served as CEO from its inception in 1996 to the acquisition in late 1998. Distributed Bits developed one of the first email customer service systems, which brought call center functionality to email.

Dave Taylor

Dave Taylor has been involved with the Internet since 1980. A successful entrepreneur, he runs Intuitive Systems, founded The Internet Mall and iTrack.com, and most recently launched Ask Dave Taylor!. An expert on Unix, Mac OS X and Web design issues, he has written many popular books including the best-selling Teach Yourself Unix in 24 Hours, Creating Cool HTML 4 Web Pages, Learning Unix for Mac OS X and, most recently, Solaris 9 for Dummies.

Dave has a BA in Computer Science, an MS in Education and an MBA, and teaches at both the University of Colorado and the University of Phoenix Online. He also speaks at various industry conferences, including Seybold and MacWorld, and is an outspoken visionary on all things technological.
